Abstract：Vacuum pressure in prefabricated vertical drains has direct influence on the effective stress in soil improvement
and this paper introduces two different methods in testing vacuum pressure within prefabricated vertical drains and analyzes
the factors affecting the test results. The results of the field observation show that using direct vacuum preloading for ground
treatment, the vacuum pressure attenuation within prefabricated vertical drains is very small
